About the event
After a few fits and starts in the early 2010’s, Short in the Sleeve, formed by long-time friends and bandmates Jason Middlekauff and Chris Mirante, solidified into a four-piece that has quietly proven itself one of Memphis’smost versatile and prolific bands of the last decade. Since 2013, the band has released three albums, two EPs, and a bevy of singles, deftly exploring musical territories ranging from power pop and garage rock to folk rock and spare acoustic to synth pop. Divide and Conquer Music described their 2021 album 9 from 20 as “power pop edged with an addicting buoyancy as well as folk rock songs that show the bands softer, more intimate side.” The band’s latest single, “Forever Ago,” is a synth-bathed, wistful ballad with a soaring chorus. In a live setting the quartet puts their eclectic tastes on full display with spirited performances that draw from their diverse catalog and sprinkle in a few covers of classics with a new spin.
